Knee Stacking Pass Breakdown

The Machado Method

The Breakdown:

“When you’re trying to pass the guard you’re probing, trying to figure out which side your opponent is strongest”, says Master Carlos Machado. Using the surfer stance taught in earlier lessons, you circle your opponent in order to bait them into blocking your body with his opposing leg. Using their block as an advantage you can start to stack their legs and start to pass. Learn more about knee stacking pass techniques details in the Alligator Pass, and Surfer Stance videos.

Goal: Pass the guard with a knee stack
Base position: Open guard (top)
Grips: Bottom Leg, Hip Control
