If anyone can deduce the meaning of struggle and its role in life, that person is Michael Tremblay. Not only is he pursuing a Ph.D. in Philosophy at Queen’s University in Kingston, ON, Canada, but he’s also a Jiu Jitsu black belt. Tremblay has been practicing Jiu Jitsu since he was 6-years-old, taught by his father, Peter, who is the founder and head instructor of Alpha Mixed Martial Arts in Carleton Place, ON, Canada. Under his father’s tutelage, Tremblay received his black belt in July 2016. If he isn’t chronicling the works of Ancient Greek philosophers or competing on a mat, Tremblay can be found teaching the gentle art to students at Hayabusa Academy in Kingston.
